President Barack Obama's human trafficking efforts become FedEx-ing

The number of children crossing the U.S. border alone has doubled since last year. More than three-quarters of unaccompanied minors are from mostly poor and violent towns in three countries: El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras. Children from Mexico, once the largest group, now make up less than a quarter of the total. Graphic Credit: New York Times

President Barack Obama's Human Trafficking Efforts Become FedEx-ing

Immigration of human beings into the United States use to be a semi-orderly process.

A high level of respect for our borders and political culture governed by the Rule-Of-Law by other humans not born in this country was an assumed standard. Further, laws were passed by Congress to address special situations where labor needs, education access, and political upheaval could be addressed with the assumption always being that our citizens elected to office would perform their Oath Of Office and enforce the laws to the best of their ability.

Over the last decade, this respect and political culture governed by the Rule-Of-Law has degraded to the point where our Executive Branch no longer enforces the existing laws on immigration but have sought to foment a form of (through assumption and formal agreement) multiple government human trafficking. Mexico, in response to President Obama's 2012 Deferred Action of Childhood Arrivals - DACA (Dream Act) proclamation of executive fiat, has opened up and fast-tracked the approval of Visa's allowing ANYBODY 72 hours to pass from their southern border to the southern border of the United States. Further, Mexico has been working directly with "feeder governments" (Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, etc.) on agreements that would aid in a seamless streamlining of the Visa process to allow more people to leave their countries and pass through North to the United States.

For the Executive Branch's part in this, the President has instructed all main border patrol management locations be moved back from the border by about 40 miles, and have them pick-up people they determine to be undocumented and perform a form of "catch and release" by having those processed sign a promise to appear for a case hearing on their immigration status. Some of these people that are processed are even given transportation to a destination of their choice within the United States, at taxpayer expense, where these people disappear into the country and never show up for their hearing of determination on their immigration status.

This expansion into not respecting our borders and political culture governed by the Rule-Of-Law has now been taken up by the Executive Branch of the United States backed by many in both houses of Congress. Lawlessness on immigration policy and established law is beginning to rule the day.

Rule by Executive proclamation and Congressional inactivity is becoming our de facto process for a path to citizenship for people who just happen to show up and set up shop in our country.

It is as if someone on the street found out where you live, finds and unlocked sliding door, and just make themselves residents in your living room ... eat out of your kitchen from a refrigerator you stock, bathe in the bathrooms that you clean and tend, take away your job for less pay, and expect you to keep the roof over their head.

President Barack Obama's human trafficking efforts through proposed Executive proclamation have, as defined, become a process of setting a formal in-country processing center for FedEx-ing non-citizens into the United States.

U.S. Considering Refugee Status for Hondurans
By FRANCES ROBLES and MICHAEL D. SHEAR - NYT - JULY 24, 2014

Hoping to stem the recent surge of migrants at the Southwest border, the Obama administration is considering whether to allow hundreds of minors and young adults from Honduras into the United States without making the dangerous trek through Mexico, according to a draft of the proposal.

If approved, the plan would direct the government to screen thousands of children and youths in Honduras to see if they can enter the United States as refugees or on emergency humanitarian grounds. It would be the first American refugee effort in a nation reachable by land to the United States, the White House said, putting the violence in Honduras on the level of humanitarian emergencies in Haiti and Vietnam, where such programs have been conducted in the past amid war and major crises.
----
By moving decisions on refugee claims to Honduras, the plan aims to slow the rush of minors crossing into the United States illegally from El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala, which has overwhelmed the border this year. More than 45,000 unaccompanied minors from those three nations have arrived since Oct. 1, straining federal resources to the point that some agencies will exhaust their budgets by next month, the secretary of Homeland Security has said.
----
Administration officials stressed that no decision had been made to move forward, saying the idea was one of many being discussed by officials at the White House and the Departments of State, Homeland Security, Justice, and Health and Human Services.
----
The proposal, prepared by several federal agencies, says the pilot program under consideration would cost up to $47 million over two years, assuming 5,000 applied and about 1,750 people were accepted. If successful, it would be adopted in Guatemala and El Salvador as well. It is unclear how the administration determined those estimates, given that since Oct. 1 more than 16,500 unaccompanied children traveled to the United States from Honduras alone.

Children would be interviewed by American immigration employees trained to deal with minors, and a resettlement center would be set up in the Honduran capital, Tegucigalpa, with assistance from international organizations like the International Organization for Migration.

The plan would be similar to a recent bill introduced by Senators John McCain and Jeff Flake of Arizona, who proposed increasing the number of refugee visas to the three Central American countries by 5,000 each.
----
Mark Krikorian, the executive director of the Center for Immigration Studies, which supports tighter controls on immigration, said that the proposal would increase, not stem, the flood of migrants from Central America trying to get into the United States.

“It’s clearly a bad idea,” Mr. Krikorian said. “Orders of magnitude more people will apply for refugee status if they can just do it from their home countries.”

He added that the proposal would allow people to claim to be refugees from their countries with “nothing more than a bus ride to the consulate. We’re talking about, down the road, an enormous additional flow of people from those countries.”
----
Under American law, refugees are people fleeing their country of origin based on fears of persecution by reason of race, religion, nationality, political opinion or membership in a particular social group.

The only category that would seem to apply is “social group,” experts said, but there is disagreement on what that means. Some contend that children could count as a group, but others say the refugee requirements are stricter, and would not apply to people fleeing general crime and violence.

“What is a social group?” said Muzaffar Chishti, director of migration policies for the Migration Policy Institute’s New York office. “This is going to create a huge deal of debate. You will see a lot of law developing on it.”
----
When a similar plan was adopted in Haiti, as a way to keep people from taking to the high seas, he said, it was ultimately criticized because Haitians already in the United States did not receive help. “It ended up being counterproductive to the goal,” Mr. Appleby said.

Stacie Blake, the director of government relations for the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants, an advocacy group, said the processing of potential refugees in Central America could be handled by the United States or by the United Nations, which makes refugee determinations in many other countries. She said some of the people designated as refugees in Honduras could end up in countries other than the United States.

“It’s a way to help folks avoid life-threatening escapes and journeys,” Ms. Blake said. “It’s a good idea. It’s a tested idea.”
----
On Friday, Mr. Obama is scheduled to meet with the presidents of Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador at the White House in an effort to urge the Central American leaders to do more to help stem the flow of children fleeing their countries for the United States.
----
Critics of the plan were quick to pounce, saying it appeared to redefine the legal definition of a refugee and would only increase the flow of migration to the United States. Administration officials said they believed the plan could be enacted through executive action, without congressional approval, as long as it did not increase the total number of refugees coming into the country.
[Reference Here]

So the agencies of this United States government, under this re-definition of refugee status, will be setting up shops in the form of refugee processing centers in targeted countries on which refugees are deemed, then shipped (presumably by plane) into the United States - Welcome to the age of "FedEx-ing" our immigration system through Executive Branch proclamation.

Do not be surprised to hear, before this 44th President leaves office - ending Carter's Second Term, that President Barack Obama P-A-R-D-O-N-S all people breaking the law by being here in the United States illegally ... and grants them full citizenship through Executive Order.

Reasons 41-50 Of Hewitt's 100 Reasons To Vote For Romney And Against Obama 2012

It is time for a 45th Presidency - To this end, Hugh Hewitt has come up with 100 reasons to vote for Mitt Romney or against Barack Obama and these series of posts will highlight ten (or so) points to consider for your vote to have a 45th President elected come November 6, 2012. Reasons 41-50 Of Hewitt's 100 Reasons To Vote For Romney And Against Obama 2012

On Monday, September 24, 2012, Constitutional and environmental issues Lawyer/Professor, nationally syndicated afternoon issues talk show host, Hugh Hewitt delivered a tour de force presentation for three hours on the reasons why we need a change in executive leadership in the United States. This change can happen with our vote for president in the 2012 elections which early voting has already started in many states, but will officially take place November 6, 2012.

*** Hewitt's reasons 41-50 of 100 - LISTEN HERE>>

This edition explores reasons 41-50 which highlight: Mitt Romney's very successful career at Bain Consulting and Bain Capitol where Bain Capitol had around an 80% successful turnaround rate at taking stumbling businesses and having them become profitable (almost unheard of). On a personal level, Mitt Romney gave a tremendous amount of his time and talent in volunteering for his Mormon Church as a leader and church community advocate. A review of Mitt Romney's parents legacy and the impact this has had on the Mitt Romney family throughout these last decades. Mitt Romney has given over 30 million dollars in charitable contributions throughout his adult life. Barack Obama is legend for his side stepping issues that the corporate media characterizes as gaffes. From his "You didn't build that" attack on self-interest free-enterprise, to his "blaming first" approach in discourse before ever assuming responsibility (if ever) ... Obama trades on conceptual fraud in his approach to communicative leadership. This 44th presidency is probably most characterized, economically, as having run this government with NO BUDGET in over 1,2oo days and has put forth no effort to work on saving entitlements from their bankrupting path in nearly four years.

In a presentation which Hugh Hewitt titled 100 reasons why you should vote for Mitt Romney and against Barack Obama, Hugh proceeded point by point with full explanation and in no particular order 100 specific reasons Mitt Romney would make a better president to lead our country mixed in with the specific reasons why Barack Obama has not been a successful leader in the more than 1,000 days he has been president.

Since a three hour presentation of dense information may be a little hard to chew on in one session, here is one of ten postings that breaks up the 100 reasons in approximately 10 reason apiece chunks that can be savored and digested upon which one can become fully informed before making a freedom and country saving vote in this most important election.

100 Reason To Vote For Mitt Romney Or Against Barack Obama
Posted by: Hugh Hewitt at 8:12 PM

After yet another dispiriting Browns' performance yesterday, I decided to redeem the day by listing 100 reasons to either vote for Mitt Romney or against Barack Obama. I turned that list into a three hour monologue on today's show -- the first such in 12 years of radio.

It wasn't hard to do. Not hard at all. Which is why I think Romney will win going away. The president is a failure, on every level and by every measurement. Americans don't endorse failure.

This edition explores reasons 31-40 which highlight: From the muffed Russian relations "reset button" to the candid wink and nod between President Obama to Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, "wait until I get elected to a second term" caution captured on an open microphone ... opens this edition of 100 reasons to vote for a 95th presidency in November. The placing in disarray the nuclear deterrent used by Poland and the Czech Republic. Obama's abandonment of the newly democratic Iraq without a status of forces agreement and his continued fumbling of Afghanistan with a "date certain" withdrawal resulting in needless insider murders of troops. MOST IMPORTANT - This 44th President's over-reaching draw down of America's military power and position in the world by first reducing our Naval power to critical levels. Under Reagan, our Navy totaled 600 ships - under common agreement with Congress, this level had been set to be no lower than 313 ships - under Obama, the Navy operates only 282 ships and if given another 4 years is expected to become 250 ships. This Commander-In-Chief' s elimination of a march toward air superiority with the killing of the F22 Raptor fighter jet - the elimination of 100,000 standing troops from the Marines and Army.

Nixon (37) Plus Carter (39) Equals Obama (44)

Many have an opinion about our current President that, unfortunately, is only shaped by pure political team identity or information provided by what the corporate media outlets allow one to become exposed to.

The more one adds up the facts about how this 44th Presidency of Barack Obama conducts itself, one discovers an executive branch that combines the worst elements that have characterized two of the most ineffective and dangerous presidencies of the 20th century.

The latest information to come out through a "Freedom of Information Act" request by the investigative journalist website, the Daily Caller, to review communications from the legal trust-holders that occupy the Department of Justice. What they were able to establish is a direct propaganda based news publishing information link with a not for profit, politically slanted, agitation and propaganda machine funded by George Soros.

Emails reveal Justice Dept. regularly enlists Media Matters to spin press
By Matthew Boyle - Published: 12:56 AM 09/18/2012

Internal Department of Justice emails obtained by The Daily Caller show Attorney General Eric Holder’s communications staff has collaborated with the left-wing advocacy group Media Matters for America in an attempt to quell news stories about scandals plaguing Holder and America’s top law enforcement agency.

Dozens of pages of emails between DOJ Office of Public Affairs Director Tracy Schmaler and Media Matters staffers show Schmaler, Holder’s top press defender, working with Media Matters to attack reporters covering DOJ scandals.
----
Emails sent in September and November 2010 show Schmaler working with Media Matters staffer Jeremy Holden on attacking news coverage of the New Black Panther Party voter intimidation scandal.

Holden attacked former DOJ Civil Rights Division attorneys J. Christian Adams and Hans von Spakovsky on Sept. 20, 2010 for what he called an attempt “to reignite the phony New Black Panther Party scandal.”

Before Holden posted his article at 7:52 p.m., Schmaler sent him several emails with information helping him attack both former DOJ oficials.

“Here’s one Wolf letter,” read the subject of one email Schmaler sent Holden that contained no text. The email was likely a reference to Virginia Republican Rep. Frank Wolf, a member of Congress who led the Republican charge on the New Black Panther Party scandal involving alleged voter intimidation at a November 2008 polling place in Philadelphia.

In response, Holden told Schmaler that “The response to interog 38 is particularly helpful. Thanks!”
----
Breitbart News editor Joel Pollak told The Daily Caller that he thinks Attorney General Eric Holder should resign over, among other things, the Department of Justice’s collusion with left-wing advocacy group Media Matters to discredit him.

Emails TheDC obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request and published Tuesday show DOJ Office of Public Affairs director Tracy Schmaler, Holder’s top press defender, and Media Matters staffers working together to attack reporters covering DOJ scandals.

“On the one hand, it’s a badge of honor,” Pollak said of being one of the targets of the collusion. “The cool conservatives make the Obama administration’s enemies list. On the other hand, it is shocking.”

“I was surprised enough when I witnessed the same thing happening in a democratic South Africa,” Pollak added, referencing a column he wrote for Breitbart.com on how he was accused by the South African government of being an Israeli Mossad spy for criticizing the country’s policies toward Israel when he lived there. “It is shocking to see such thuggery here at home.”

“Holder should resign over this alone,” Pollak said.

An Executive Branch "administration's enemies list" was something that had only surfaced, and was proven to be carried out during the Nixon Administration. "Tricky Dick" Nixon was extremely secretive and insatiable about control over what messages were released or printed about the administration from the media.

Richard Nixon was forced to resign as president through the cover up of circumstances surrounding the knowledge of a break in of Democrat political party business offices at the Watergate hotel and business complex in order to get strategy information for an upcoming election. The election went forward, Richard Nixon was re-elected, but the information about the Watergate break in led back to the oval office and soon a resignation was in order or an impeachment process would have been pursued.

It's these fear and manipulation factors that characterized the Nixon years that are finding their way into coloring the nature of the 44th Presidency of Barack Obama.

Additional similarities to the Nixon Administration are coming to light through the "Fast and Furious" gun running operation put in place by the DoJ to try and develop information on which this administration could make a case to limit 2nd Amendment rights.

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa, R-Calif., who along with Sen. Charles Grassley led the charge on Capitol Hill to investigate the [Fast and Furious] operation, said Wednesday that the report "confirms" congressional findings "of a near total disregard for public safety" in the program.

"Contrary to the denials of the Attorney General and his political defenders in Congress, the investigation found that information in wiretap applications approved by senior Justice Department officials in Washington did contain red flags showing reckless tactics and faults Attorney General Eric Holder's inner circle for their conduct," he said.

In an interview with Bret Baier on 'Special Report' Wednesday, and reaffirmed in an interview on Fox and Friends this morning, Issa said that the report was good overall, but questions remain about a cover-up [by people inside Eric Holder's DoJ and the Obama Administration].

Here, at Carter's Second Term and Politisite, we have already covered the similarities that the 44th Presidency has many of the hallmarks of economic failure and inept international leadership through policies that just do not work as they are intended to work.

Barack Obama's Pursuit Of Carter's Second Term Is In Full Effect
By Edmund Jenks - Published 9/12/12 8:22 AM

Outside of a really, really bad economy (two credit service downgrades and an additional 6 trillion dollars of debt in only 4 years) and inept public sector leadership (44 months of over 8% unemployment with a net -350,000 jobs created since taking office), the one thing that the 39th Presidency of Jimmy Carter principally known for is direct attacks by Islamist mobs against American embassies in the Middle East.

Today, Americans are waking up with news on Google, cable, TV, and what few newspapers folks read anymore, to the news that U.S. Embassies in Cairo, Egypt and Benghazi, Libya were over run by mobs and a U.S. Ambassador to Libya John Christopher Stevens and three other American diplomats have been killed Tuesday in the assaults.

No official comment has come from the 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama. U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton condemned the attack “in the strongest terms.” She said she had called Libyan President Mohamed Yusuf al-Magariaf “to coordinate additional support to protect Americans in Libya.”

So this is where our "Lead From Behind" foreign policy has led us and it is time for an immediate change. Clint Eastwood said it best at the Republican National Convention held in Tampa, Florida a couple of weeks ago when he spoke into the microphone these words - "Whether you are a Democrat or Republican or whether you're libertarian or whatever, you are the best.  And we should not ever forget that. And when somebody does not do the job, we got to let them go."

When one adds all of this, and more, up ... 37 + 39 = 44 ... one comes away with a clearer picture of what is going on than what a pure mathematical answer can provide.

We, at Carter's Second Term, simply call this OBAMAth!

Obama and the talking points terrorism of the Democrat Party

Obama and the talking points terrorism of the Democrat Party

Last Tuesday, immediately after President Barack Obama signed into law, the Senate version of Health Care Reform, members of the Democrat Party took to the microphones to tout how much the American public would like the benefits and substance of this 2,700 page bill of force and oppression written to have the federal government takeover of our i/6th of our economy and health care system.

These talking points are consistent in their structure and delivery and are designed to tamp down the extreme discontent felt by the citizens of this nation largely due to the fact that this legislation was not the direction or process by which most felt were the problems that needed to be addressed to better our healh care system. It will seem (and already has) like hundreds of Democrats and supporters of a socialist/Marxist agenda are taking to microphones and citing these talking points in a never-ending barrage in what feels like a terrorist attack - even if some of the points have proven themselves to be not true and/or factual.

Talking Points: Americans Will See Immediate Benefits As a Result of Health Reform

· The legislation passed last night is a victory for American families, for seniors, for workers and small businesses – for Americans who deserve the security of knowing that in this country, neither illness nor accident should endanger the American dream.
----
This bill will immediately begin to lower health care costs for American families and small businesses.

o In 2010, small businesses that choose to offer coverage will begin to receive tax credits of up to 35 percent of premiums to help make employee coverage more affordable.

o In 2010, adults who are uninsured because of pre-existing conditions will have access to affordable insurance through a temporary high-risk pool.

o This bill starts to close the Medicare Part D donut hole in 2010 by providing a $250 rebate to Medicare beneficiaries who hit the gap in prescription drug coverage. And beginning in 2011, the bill institutes a 50% discount on prescription drugs in the donut hole.

o Starting this year, new private plans will be required to provide free preventive care: no co-payments and no deductibles for preventive services. And beginning January 1, 2011, Medicare will do the same.

o In 2010, this bill will provide help for early retirees by creating a temporary re-insurance program to help offset the costs of expensive premiums for employers and retirees age 55-64.

Under health reform, Americans will see an immediate expansion of coverage.

o This year, children with pre-existing conditions can no longer be denied health insurance coverage. The bill outlaws that practice for new health plans as well as grandfathered group plans. Moving forward, no insurance company can deny a child coverage based on his or her health.

o This year, new health care plans and select grandfathered plans will allow young people to remain on their parents’ insurance policy up until their 26th birthday.

o This year, insurance companies will be banned from dropping people from coverage when they get sick, and they will be banned from implementing lifetime caps on coverage. This year, restrictive annual limits on coverage will be banned for new plans and grandfathered group health plans. Under health reform, Americans will be ensured access to the care they need.

o The bill increases funding for community health centers so that nearly double the number of patients can be treated in their community health centers over the next 5 years. The funding begins in the next fiscal year.
----
o Beginning this year, this bill creates a new, independent appeals process that ensures consumers in new private plans have access to an effective process to appeal decisions made by their insurer.
----
o This year, discrimination based on salary will be outlawed. New group health plans will be prohibited from establishing any eligibility rules for health care coverage that discriminate in favor of higher-wage employees.

Some of these points are valid solutions to the problems that exist by, again, over 60% of the American public are not happy about being told what to do and how to do it as it relates to how one chooses to lead one's life. The biggest problem with some of the talking points is that some are NOT TRUE.

EXAMPLE: o This year, children with pre-existing conditions can no longer be denied health insurance coverage. The bill outlaws that practice for new health plans as well as grandfathered group plans. Moving forward, no insurance company can deny a child coverage based on his or her health. THIS IS NOT IN THE BILL.

Gap in health care law's protection for children

Obama administration scrambles to fix gap in health care law's protection for children
Ricardo Alonso-Zaldivar, Associated Press Writer, On Wednesday March 24, 2010, 5:24 am EDT

Hours after President Barack Obama signed historic health care legislation, a potential problem emerged. Administration officials are now scrambling to fix a gap in highly touted benefits for children.

Obama made better coverage for children a centerpiece of his health care remake, but it turns out the letter of the law provided a less-than-complete guarantee that kids with health problems would not be shut out of coverage.

Under the new law, insurance companies still would be able to refuse new coverage to children because of a pre-existing medical problem, said Karen Lightfoot, spokeswoman for the House Energy and Commerce Committee, one of the main congressional panels that wrote the bill Obama signed into law Tuesday.
----
Full protection for children would not come until 2014, said Kate Cyrul, a spokeswoman for the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, another panel that authored the legislation. That's the same year when insurance companies could no longer deny coverage to any person on account of health problems.

Obama's public statements have conveyed the impression that the new protections for kids were more sweeping and straightforward.

"This is a patient's bill of rights on steroids," the president said Friday at George Mason University in Virginia. "Starting this year, thousands of uninsured Americans with pre-existing conditions will be able to purchase health insurance, some for the very first time. Starting this year, insurance companies will be banned forever from denying coverage to children with pre-existing conditions."
----
Late Tuesday, the administration said Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius would try to resolve the situation by issuing new regulations. The Obama administration interprets the law to mean that kids can't be denied coverage, as the president has said repeatedly.

This is just one example of how the Democrat Party does not understand how a business remains viable ... a business activity, as well as a Government, requires a profit in order to remain alive and viable. This bill (and those that are planned to be introduced and passed via one-party rule) will sink our economy and destroy our freedom.

Watch to see how long it will take for these talking point terrorist Democrats to stop referencing the "children with pre-existing conditions - no insurance company can deny a child coverage based on his or her health" canard in their point by point barrage - this can become the new game of the Governmentally oppressed during Carter's Second Term.

Stimulate This, Jimmy Carter

Stimulate This, Jimmy Carter

The poor economic record of the Carter years ... and in particular, the unusual combination of high inflation and high unemployment ... was an important reason for Carter's loss of popularity and his 1980 defeat.

The 39th President of the United States has nothing on the potential for economic havoc that liberal federal government spending will have once the 44th President, Barack Obama, has his proposed $3.5 to $4 trillion dollar budget approved and placed into action.

The budget proposal released today is coming on the heels of the approval of $787 Billion dollars of tax monies to stimulate our economy ... the largest spending bill ever passed by our leaders in the U.S. Congress in the history of the United States.

Just try to understand how much money of our citizen supported spending, the Government has approved on our behalf, after hearing that the next budget President Obama wants to have approved may spend about $4 Trillion dollars.

This all becomes a little inconceivable.

Example:

If one was to spend only $1,000,000 (that's one-million dollars) a day and intended to spend this money until one had spent $1,000,000,000,000 (one-trillion dollars), one would not finish until three (3) thousand years from now.

So, TIMES FOUR (4) – that’s a million dollars a day for twelve-thousand years!

There are only three-hundred million (300,000,000) men, women, ... and children who live in the United States – do the math.

The Obama Effect - This chart, showing the utter devastation Obama has wrought on the stock market, is from Investor's Business Daily.

How Big Is Big?

Jennifer Rubin - 02.25.2009 - 7:07 PM

The spending numbers become meaningless after awhile. This helpful guide puts things in perspective:

$787 billion would buy 4.6 million homes here in the US at the most recent median price of $170,300 for January 2008.

$787 billion would send a check for $2,623 to every man, woman and child in the US.

$787 billion would fund 7.7 million four year scholarships to the average private university in the US at current tuition rates.

$787 billion would fund 30 million full four year scholarships to the nation’s public universities.

$787 billion would buy 27.7 million cars at the average price of an automobile sold last year in the US.

$787 billion would fund four full months of a tax holiday in the US.

This not only helps clarify how much we are spending, but how poorly we are allocating taxpayer dollars. If we actually did a couple of these things there might be broader support even among conservatives for the stimulus or the other spending projects Democrats have in mind. However, who thinks we’re going to get much value or immediate productive economic activity from the $787B?

You have the sense that, if they tried, they couldn’t spend the money in a more inefficient and less productive fashion. And you’d be right. The Democrats’ goal is to expand the public sector and pet liberal projects, not to worry about efficiency and productivity. They’re doing a fine job.

Then there is this little budget of $4 Trillion dollars and the claim that it will reduce the deficit by half.

In President's Budget Plan, Broad Agenda and a Few Gaps

By Lori Montgomery, Washington Post Staff Writer - Thursday, February 26, 2009

President Obama's spending plan is built on the assumption that lawmakers can resolve some hugely contentious issues -- and it relies on a few well-worn budget tricks.

The request he will deliver to Congress today proposes to provide what administration officials are calling a "down payment" on a major expansion of health care coverage for the uninsured. It identifies $634 billion in tax increases and spending cuts to cover the cost of part of the program, but does not say how the administration hopes to raise the rest of the money -- hundreds of billions of dollars more. "TBD" has been penciled into categories for cost savings and benefit reductions.

Obama's budget also would make permanent a tax cut for the middle class enacted in the recent stimulus package. But to pay for it, the president counts on a big infusion of cash from a politically controversial cap-and-trade system, which would force companies to buy allowances to exceed pollution limits. Even if that plan is approved, some lawmakers have other ideas about how to spend the money.
----
"They've painted the worst-case scenario in order to make it as easy as possible to improve on," said Maya MacGuineas, president of the bipartisan Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, which champions deficit reduction. “But I'd like to see them go much further in terms of fiscal responsibility in actually closing that deficit gap."
----
"It's a bold plan. This is big strokes. This is not a budget about little things," said Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.), a member of the House leadership.
----
A senior administration official, speaking on condition of anonymity because the budget has not been released, said the spending proposal is just a summary of a fleshed-out plan that will be complete in April. In addition, some details were intentionally left out of the document because the president did not want to dictate policy changes to lawmakers.

The health reform proposal, for example, "is the starting point of a conversation with Congress," the official said. "We're not going to go to Congress and say, 'Here's the plan.' We're starting a conversation and saying, 'This is what we want to get done.' "
----
The deficit is perhaps the trickiest issue in Obama's spending plan. He has pledged to cut it in half by the end of his first term. Specifically, administration officials say the annual gap between federal spending and tax collections will fall from something north of $1.4 trillion this year -- the highest since World War II -- to $533 billion in 2013.

But Republicans and some budget analysts noted that this highly touted goal is not particularly ambitious: This year's budget deficit is bloated by spending on the stimulus package and various financial-sector bailouts, expenses unlikely to be repeated in future years. The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office recently predicted that the deficit could be halved by 2013 merely by winding down the war in Iraq and allowing some of the tax cuts enacted during the Bush administration to expire in 2011, as Obama has proposed. That alone would cut the deficit to $715 billion, according to the CBO.

"It's easy to cut the deficit in half after you've quadrupled it," said Brian Riedl, a budget analyst at the conservative Heritage Foundation. "The end of the recession, the drawdown of Iraq spending and the end of temporary stimulus spending will by itself cut the deficit in half. He should do more."
----
The official defended the administration's figures, saying they accurately represent recent war costs. "It's a change in our policy that is going to bring those costs down," the official said.

But several budget analysts criticized the speech as misleading.

"It's a hollow number," said Sen. Judd Gregg (R-N.H.), the senior Republican on the Senate Budget Committee, who recently withdrew as Obama's nominee to head the Commerce Department. "You're not getting savings if you're assuming spending that isn't actually going to occur."
